Powering Renewable Energy Projects

Biomass power puts waste to good use. For example, a ten-megawatt biomass power plant converts about 300 tons of waste into electricity every day. Waste that would otherwise go to a landfill is diverted to a preparation facility where it is ground into chips which serve as fuel for the power plant. At 300 tons per day, in a year a ten-megawatt plant would divert enough waste from landfills to fill a football field more than three football fields high. This translates into enough electricity to power 7,000 homes. That is a lot of waste put to good use!
